Range of Variants of Our Amorphous Metal Components

Geometry Variants

In 3D printing, geometry variants are possible at no additional cost to the part price (limited engineering effort may be required). Possible examples include:

  • Various logo variants (raised, recessed) are possible. For raised logos, further surface variations from matte to glossy can be realized.
  • Continuum between round and angular (polygonal) shapes
  • Lattice structures/bionic designs can be selected as desired between round/polygonal

In pressure and injection molding, logo variants are particularly cost-effective (low additional tooling costs, no additional part costs) when supplied by tool suppliers. These can be molded with extremely high detail accuracy (similar to coin minting).

Color Variants

Color variants offer similar possibilities to titanium or aluminum. Collaboration with sub-suppliers is generally necessary.

Costs are expected to be similar to those for aluminum and titanium.

  • Thermal oxidation can be carried out in-house at low cost per part. The color spectrum ranges from gold to blue to pink. Color variants and processes must be defined based on the specific part geometry and surface.
  • Color options for wet chemical oxidation are as wide as for aluminum anodizing or titanium anodizing. The process is well controlled and established.
  • PVD coating offers the same possibilities as for titanium or aluminum.
  • Dip or spray coating offers options beyond the “metallic” look and can, for example, enable fluorescent parts.

Surface Variants

Regardless of the manufacturing process, coarse-grained, matte, or glossy surfaces can be produced by blasting and polishing. Cost differences tend to be minimal.
